The Houmas house is an antebellum structure that managed to survive the Civil War, largely because the owner claimed British citizenship. Prior to the Civil War, the Houmas Plantation’s cash crop was sugar cane. My photographic interest was the 38 acre gardens.
We disembarked the boat onto the levee, and then walked to the Houmas House.

Two of the Houmas House docents, dressed in period costumes. Judy, the docent on
the right, is also an entertainer who provided our evening entertainment several
days later. She is very funny.
The gardens contained a combination of classic and contemporary features.
