The most interesting excursion on our tour of the lower Mississippi was the Vicksburg National Memorial Park. This park commemorates the Civil War Battle of Vicksburg. While war memorials are not uncommon, the Vicksburg park is enormous, covering more than 1800 acres. The park covers most of the original battle field.
