Starved Rock State Park along the Illinois River is noted for its sandstone, or perhaps limestone, rock bluffs and canyons, most notable the Starved Rock itself. Much of the park is photogenic. Unfortunately, the day we visited was a beautiful, sunny day – nice for hiking, but not so good for photography. The lighting was a bit harsh.
One of many stairs along the park's paths
This trickle of a stream feeds into the Illinois river. No doubt the stream is more
vigorous in the Spring.
Notice the foot-holds along the stream. They were not slippery.
