This man is wearing a fisherman’s garb from the late 19th / early 20th century. With the exception of the hat, the entire outfit is handmade from Icelandic sheepskin. They imported the hats from Great Britain.
In addition to being places of worship, churches in Iceland function as venues for entertainment.
The keyboard of the accordion in this picture has buttons on it: the buttons allow
a greater range of octaves to be used and is considered a more “professional” accordion.
