Our first port was George Town on the Grand Cayman Island. The Cayman Islands are best known for financial services – offshore banking. Tourism is also important. Many tourists visit “Stingray City” in order to meet and feed stingrays. Also popular is the Cayman Turtle Farm which we visited.
Grand Cayman Island lacks a deep water port. Ships anchor off-shore. Tourists reach
the island by small boats called tenders. In addition to our Norwegian Dawn,
three other ships were anchored off-shore, one Disney and two Carnivals.
